SHERPA Position Paper - Empowering rural areas in multi-level governance processes

This SHERPA Position Paper builds on the contributions of all 41 SHERPA Multi-Actor Platforms (MAPs) involved in the fourth (and final) cycle of the SHERPA project. During this final cycle, MAPs were asked to reflect on how to empower regional and local institutions and actors in multi-level decision-making processes in rural areas, and propose recommendations for policy and future research on this topic. Each MAP discussed the elements they found most relevant for their geographical area in relation to multi-level governance in rural areas, and used this as their MAP input for the development of this Position Paper. SHERPA Position Paper - Foresight exercise: Alternative rural futures

In a second stage of work on the LTVRA, various SHERPA Multi-Actor Platforms carried out a SHERPA foresight exercise. This foresight exercise had the goal of informing and assisting the decision-making process through the creation of a dialogue on the future of rural areas among civil societies, researchers, and policy-makers around locally relevant matters. D7.4 Second set of recommendations for future research agendas

<p>This Deliverable presents the second set of recommendations for future research agendas. They are based upon the work of SHERPA partners and Multi-Actor Platforms (MAPs) during Phase 2 of the project, presented in the framework of the seven topics reviewed and debated by the MAPs. This second set of recommendations for agendas of research augment the first set, reported in Deliverable 7.2 (Chartier <i>et al</i>., 2022). Those were based on a gap analysis between the needs identified by SHERPA and its Multi-Actor Platforms (MAPs) in their contributions to the EU Communication on the Long-term Vision for Rural Areas (LTVRA; European Commission, 2021a; Chartier <i>et al</i>., 2021). They were augmented by a review of H2020 and Horizon Europe projects working in related areas as identified by the SHERPA web crawler and repository. </p&gt
